The interior of a car is just as important as the engine or the paint. A worn-out, faded, or missing carpet can drag down the look and feel of your project. That’s where Auto Custom Carpets (ACC) comes in.

Why Choose Auto Custom Carpets?

Auto Custom Carpets is the world’s largest manufacturer of automotive flooring products. They have specialized in manufacturing high-quality, molded and cut-and-sewn carpet kits that fit a wide range of classic and modern vehicles since 1984. Whether you’re restoring a muscle car, or freshening up the look of your daily driver, ACC offers a direct-fit solution that makes your interior look factory fresh again.

Here’s what sets ACC apart:

  • Perfect Fit: Each carpet is molded or sewn to match your vehicle’s exact floor pan design.
  • Color Options: Choose from dozens of factory-correct colors to match your interior or go custom with a unique choice.
  • Material Choices: Loop, cut pile, Essex, vinyl flooring, and more—ACC offers the right look and feel for every project.
  • Made in the USA: All carpets are proudly manufactured in Anniston, Alabama.

Bringing Back That Factory Look

Nothing completes a restoration quite like sliding into an interior that feels just like it did when the car rolled off the showroom floor. With ACC carpet, you can achieve that original factory look—and even the correct heel pad placement—without sacrificing originality and durability. But what if you don’t want an all original look? ACC offers hundreds of different colors in several different materials to give your ride the look you’ve been dreaming about.

For example, if you are restoring a 1978 Chevrolet C10, you can purchase an ACC molded carpet kit that matches your interior color and fits your truck’s floor pan perfectly. The same goes for Chevelle, Mustang, Charger, Javelin, and many more classic favorites.

Easy Installation

Many classic car owners install ACC carpet themselves. The kits are designed for easy installation, and with a little prep work—removing the old carpet, cleaning the floor pans, laying down some insulation, and some trimming around the edges — you can transform your interior in a weekend.

First, it is a good idea to lay your carpet out in the sun and allow it to heat up. This lets the carpet relax and work out the wrinkles and folds that occurred during shipping.

While you’re waiting, start removing everything necessary to replace the carpet like seats, consoles, seatbelts, door sill plates, kick panels, trim, etc.

After removing the old carpet and insulation, be sure to vacuum and clean the floor where your new carpet will lay. If you have any surface rust on the floor, now would be the best time to us some rust-encapsulating primer.

Now you can lay the carpet into the car for a test fit. Always start with the tunnel and work your way around the floor to be sure the molded parts of the carpet are set into place. ACC Carpets are usually oversized front to back and side to side, so some trimming is required. We recommend using a sharp boxcutter knife or a good bulky pair of scissors for the trimming process. A little bit goes a long way, so be sure you take your time and work around the carpet.

Once the carpet is trimmed and set into place, its time to start cutting your holes for your seats, seatbelts, console, and other floor mounted parts. You can use any sharp knife or boxcutter to create your holes; we have found it easy to use a soldering iron to open the holes through. Be careful not to set the hot soldering iron down on your new carpet and be cautious of any fire hazards in the surrounding work area.

At this point you are ready to install the door sill plates. Be sure to double check all of your holes are in the proper location and all wires, linkages, and cables are routed properly (Example: console shifter linkage, console lights, rear body wire harness, etc.). Then, Install your seat(s) and anything else removed during the first steps, being cautious not to hit the brackets on the door sills.

Finally, take a step back and enjoy the incredible fitment of your new ACC carpet!
